The Boise Men’s Chorus Kicks Up its Boots for “Country
Boys”
BMC Invites Everyone to Share the Love of Country Music
This Summer
Two Concert Performances on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25
The Boise Men’s Chorus will end its third successful season
with a very special country concert that combines traditional
songs of the past with modern musical numbers – not to
mention that unique BMC humor – for one spectacular show
you won’t want to miss! Under the direction of Artistic Director Adam Wade Duncan, Boise Men’s Chorus presents two
performances of “Country Boys” on Friday, June 24, at 8:00pm
and again on Saturday, June 25, at 8:00pm. The performance
venue will be The First Presbyterian Church at 950 W State St.
“Country Boys” will feature well-loved standards like the married songwriting duo Boudleaux and Felice Bryants’ heart-felt
“Rocky Top,” Reba McEntire’s inspirational song “I’m Gonna
Take That Mountain,” and even the “Brokeback Mountain
Suite” as made famous by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. Audiences will also recognize classics like “Shenandoah”
and “The Red River Valley,” and then will want to sing along
with the Chorus during “Friends in Low Places” and “Riders
in the Sky.” But only the Boise Men’s Chorus can perform all
these selections with its usual combination of artistic excellence,
campy comedy bits, choreographed dancing, and authentic
country costumes.
Chorus board president Richard Bell explains, “Everyone likes
a light hearted and fun concert, and we are well overdue to
give it to Boise and the surrounding areas. An ancient writing says, ‘Laughter is a good medicine for the heart.’ So as
we gather for this season’s final concert, our intent is to laugh
together, let off steam, lighten some burdens, and lift our spirits
– even if for a few moments – as we journey on. The audience
will laugh many times, but will also have moments of reverence
and meditation as the Chorus takes our audiences from hilarity
to sweet repose. I hope everyone will join us for this magical
ride!”
The Boise Men’s Chorus summer concerts are among its
most popular shows of the season, and tickets for “Country
Boys” will be available at the door at $15 general admission seating for everyone. To find out about other events and
