I thought it would be a humorous and concise way to get a lot of information across. It would take a lot of time to read an article that covers 26 separate political positions unless they’re broken down into a list format. I thought it would be catchier if that list started with ABCs, and then I wanted illustrations to go along with the list. Soon it was a book rather than an article, and I thought it would be tongue-in-cheek to make it a satirical children’s book… and Jeb’s ABCs was started. I think it’s rather gauche to talk about money publicly, but making the book was never about earning money. It was more about the political statement that Jeb Bush is shockingly out of touch with regular Americans and not fit to be the president of the United States. What is the message of the book? How long did the process take? About three to three and a half months. I worked with a very talented artist named Chayadi Chin who is based out of Indonesia. I would send him Jeb’s quote and a concept sketch, and he would illustrate the page. Chayadi is fluent in English, so the process went smoothly. After getting the illustrations and formatting done, to get the book listed on Amazon was quite quick. The message of the book is an overview of Jeb’s political positions. It covers what he thinks about African Americans, Asians, women on welfare, women’s rights, immigrants, homosexuality, and many other topics. Jeb identifies with heterosexual, wealthy, white men, and if someone does not fall into that category, he has something disparaging to say about them. Fortunately not only heterosexual, wealthy, white men get to vote, and that’s why Jeb will not be the president in 2016 – as long as people are educated about what he really thinks on these issues.
