Hi, my name is Ron Butler. I’m 52 years old and I live in Nichols, Wisconsin.
I’ve had pretty bad eyesight for as long as I can remember. And I’ve always
hated wearing glasses. In high school I used to get teased and called ‘four
eyes’ and names like that, and it effected my confidence a lot.
Later in life things got a lot worse. Two years ago, I started to notice that my
central vision was distorted, like someone had smudged my glasses with a
dirty finger.
It turned out I had macular degeneration, and it got to the point where I
couldn’t read, drive or even work.
The doctor told me there was nothing I could do – that it was irreversible.
