towards the visuals in Big Eyes, it would be that it looks too nice at times, almost to the point of being sterile, though I suppose that adds to 'perfect image' mentality often associated with that era, and contrasts nicely with the reality of Margaret’s situation.

All in all, Big Eyes is the most captivating film Tim Burton has made in years; Margaret's story in emotionally engaging and beautifully told.

At times it almost doesn’t even feel like Burton directed it, as it lacks many of the eccentricities that permeate his style, though I feel it’s much better off for it; even if you don’t like his films, this is still definitely one worth watching. Hopefully it serves as a sign of good things to come from him. If Burton can continue to make more films like this, it might make me feel something that I never suspected I would feel again: excited for a Tim Burton movie.
