Big Eyes

There was a time when I loved Tim Burton's films. His charming, quirky style I found to be extremely captivating. However, in recent years, that love has tapered off, as he slowly replaced good storytelling with the CGI overload that has plagued modern Hollywood. That's why Big Eyes was such a surprise. I wasn't sure if Burton had it in him to make such a thoughtful film, and I'm glad he proved me wrong.

Big Eyes is the true story of artist Margaret Keane (Amy Adams), who, after leaving her husband in 1958, moves San Francisco with her young daughter to start fresh. There, she meets a fellow artist, Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), and the two soon decide to get married, prompted by an attempt at gaining custody by Margaret’s ex-husband.
