A punk rocker, a metal head, a rockabilly fan, and a jazz fanatic walk into a bar. What happens next? Well combining the difference in genre upbringings with each members massive talent and throwing it all together you get a tall drink of awesome.

As a band Timisarocker has been in its current lineup for about a year. The band consists of Tim Dooley on lead vocals, Matt Burris on lead guitar, Dylan Dykstra on bass, and Brandon Oby on drums. Tim Dooley, 21, started making music when he was in high school. After being in bands as a vocalist he decided to take on the world as a solo artist.

My mom made fun of me for liking rock so I named my band ‘Timisarocker’”, Tim tells me as we chat in his living room, cigarette in hand. As a solo artist he started playing birthday parties, open mics, and whatever else he could as an acoustic act. Still, the bands full potential wasn’t met yet. It was when Tim made the move from his home in Atlanta to St. Paul to pursue a degree at McNally Smith College Of Music that a full band was needed. A few temporary members and fill-ins later, Tim met Matt.

“I met Matt in the summertime…He’s one of the best guitar players I know.” And with that, the adventure began. Tim and Matt started with collaborations together until they found their calling working on a project together. “I usually write pop songs, but my teacher wanted me to try something different so I wanted to write more punk. Matt and I wrote two songs together for an EP and submitted them for a project” momentum from their songwriting, Matt and Tim turned to craigslist to find the rest of their band. And oddly enough, the lineup was born. Even more so, luckily, thanks to Craigslist, it all worked out.
