One of the most famous lines of his speech is, “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by their content of their character”.

Martin Luther King Jr has won many awards, most of them for his famous speech. His first award was the “Time person of the year” which he won in 1963, he got that award because he believed that everyone deserves to have their equal rights and be treated fairly. He was also the youngest person to have ever won the Noble Peace Prize.

Martin Luther King Jr died on April the 4th 1968, at the age of 39 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray over 200 feet away at a nearby motel, then got taken to the St. Joseph’s hotel.

Now, the day he passed away, is officially known as

Martin Luther King

Day.
