A Memory

“Can you help me? My kite got stuck up a tree!” A small child bashfully asked staring up at Eddie with twinkling wide eyes.

Amused, Eddie chuckled ruffling the little boy’s hair, “Sure, where is it?”

The boy’s eyes lit up in excitement and rushed over to an immense oak tree. It was taller than any tree Eddie had ever seen and it seemed to reach the clouds. A significant amount of moss covered the sturdy bark and the verdant leaves contrasted the blue sky. Eddie glanced back at the boy wondering how he got his kite stuck all the way up there.

“I think you should buy a new kite,” he mumbled carefully, trying not to upset the little boy.

“No,” he whined pointing at the red kite stuck in the hole of the tree. “I want mine.”

Eddie sighed and reluctantly began to climb the tree. The kite didn’t seem to be that high up as he reached for a small branch.
