conferences, and I have become more
confident that under Robinson’s
leadership, the city of Pensacola,
Florida has a very bright future ahead.
Positive excitement is already beginning
to build about the future of Pensacola
under the new leadership of Mayor
Robinson who was sworn into office on
November 27, 2018. I personally
believe the best man to lead the city of
Pensacola into the future was elected. I
also believe that Mayor Robinson’s
opponent, Pensacola City Councilman
Brian Spencer would have been a good
mayor for our city. Both men have solid
political experience. Robinson held the
position as Escambia County
Commissioner of District 4 for 12 years,
and Spencer has been Pensacola City
Councilman of District 6 for over 7
years. Mayor Robinson has stated that he will
attend city council meetings -- some-
thing that former mayor, Ashton
Hayward rarely did, opting instead to
have his city administrator represent
the Mayor’s Office at council meetings.
I have said in previous columns that
we should hold all elected officials
accountable. I have also stated that
many elected officials discard cam-
paign promises soon after attaining
office and almost immediately begin to
act self-important as though they are
