Staying happy and healthy over the holidays
We’ve all been there. The crazy season hits, and out comes the food, the booze, the parties, the late nights, the slothfulness.
Every year we say, oh ‘I will exercise more when it’s warmed up a bit’…. But by the time it “warms up”, it’s the Christmas/New Year season, and life just turns to chaos, it’s so easy for the good intentions and better choices to get put aside. So how do we stop that? What can we do to make sure we remain conscious of the healthier life we were working towards, before our days descended into this
.
Take care of yourself, just as much as you do everyone else. Mmhmmmm. Top of
the list. I actually mean it. Same as the last article I wrote in Our Webazine, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So how can you care for everyone else when your own needs aren’t being met? What does self care look like to you? Do more of that!
Relax. Ha.It sounds so easy, right? I’m not going to tell you how to relax during the lead
up to Christmas Day. I know it’s possible, but I haven’t perfected that one yet. Tell me if you have. My only tips are to plan ahead, be organised, do your Supermarket shop either first thing in the morning or the end of the day, if you possibly can, because, honestly, those crowds at Pak n Save stress me out more than anything else at Christmas time!! Get the kids in bed at a reasonable time so you have some quiet time each night to get stuff done, or sit down with a wine. However, once Christmas Day is over, seriously, RELAAAAAX. Going away camping? Plan ahead, what cooking/preparing do you need to do? A bit of organisation goes a long way. Write it all down so it’s out of your head, prioritise and get it done. Then do some serious relaxing once you are there.
