Someone You Know Has Lupus
During this month we have had the honor of again bringing awareness to the unkind disease called Lupus. During that time I’ve been giving the privilege of getting to know more about my friend, who is an achiever in many roles. A mother of four, a wife of 26 years, an educator, a motivator speaker, a writer, publisher and honorary Diva Dr. Adair White-Johnson. When Adair and I first met we were basketball moms ~ trust me it was totally different from Basketball wives. We were part of the middle school parents that went from school to school cheering on our sons but mostly you would find us in our little huddle innocently giggling at our “inside” jokes. Our lives intertwined on and off until our sons parted continued their journey to high school. Although we managed to keep in touch even with our busy lives not until a few years ago I was aware that Adair suffered from lupus. It made the statement “Someone You Know Has Lupus” very clear to me however, Adair’s “struggle” is one to aspire to. Yes Adair has Lupus but Lupus does not have her, it is not one of her “roles”.
As we Band Together For Lupus, the goal of this edition is to put a face to the disease that has changed the lives of so many but most importantly I want you to know my friend Dr. Adair White-Johnson.
