FREE Diabetes Prevention Camp in
Santa Clarita for at-risk Youth
The American Diabetes Association offers its summer diabetes prevention camp for the first time in
Santa Clarita to youth ages 7 – 15 years of age who are at risk for diabetes or that have a family history
of Type 2 diabetes. The camp runs Saturday and Sunday, July 15 –16, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita, 24909 Newhall Avenue in Newhall. Advance registration is
required.
Camp offers an educational and activity-filled environment focused on creating healthy behaviors
around nutrition and physical activity. Campers learn new healthy behaviors with a proven camp
curriculum to help them live a healthier life. The Association makes every attempt to accommodate
medical and/or emotional needs of campers.
To ensure that the educational messages learned at camp can be reinforced and supported at home,
parents and other family members are asked to attend camp on Sunday. In addition to the weekend
long camp experience, all children and their families are invited to attend three Reunion Events hosted
at the Boys & Girls Club in Newhall. These events will include additional educational and fun physical
activity experiences for parents and children, as well as the opportunity to connect with other families
and friends made at camp.
