T
he value you can add
to your home with
a loft conversion
is jaw dropping. Builder
Matthew Ryder says many
clients are improving their
homes with the view to
selling and maximising their profits.
How much is the average
loft conversion?
It depends on the type – dormer or
mansard – and the size of the build,
but on average it will cost around
£60-£80k all in. We are a one-stop
shop, one point of contact – we sort
everything – from planning and design,
building regulations, the build itself,
right down to the finishing such as
installing bespoke wardrobes.
How much value will it add
to your property?
Around £100k on average, but
sometimes, depending on area and
type of property, it could add up
to £200k.
What do people use loft
rooms for?
We build between 80-100 each year.
Typically, people want one or two
bedrooms, plus a shower room.
But clients also use them as studies,
artist studios, and keep exercise bikes
in them. I’ve even been asked to fit a
bar in one in Acton!
Can any property have a loft
conversion?
As long as you have enough head
height – we generally look for a
minimum of 2.3 metres in your
existing loft space.
