OUR PATCH FEBRUARY 2014 H ammersmith’s Sophie EllisBextor chose a venue close to her home – and heart – to return to the stage to unveil her fifth album. “Wanderlust means an impulse to travel. So it’s kind of funny that I’m launching the album about 10 minutes from my home,” she laughs. Luckily, 10 minutes from home for her means Uxbridge Road’s Bush Hall, in all its red velvety, chandelier splendour. The perfect venue for a highly polished pop princess. Born in Twickenham to former Blue Peter present Janet Ellis and film director and producer Robin Bextor, she moved to Hammersmith at the age of 11, when she joined St Stephen’s Primary School – right across the road from the Bush Hall – and later Godolphin and Latymer public school.
