was disappointed, but she settled for the
name “Stained Glass by KLC”.
Kathleen creates a wide variety of
glass art: window panels, sun catchers,
frames, jewelry, tiles, mosaics, garden
and memorial stones, and other
custom requests. Sometimes she even
incorporates “found objects” within
her work, including shells, trinkets,
family heirlooms, antique dishes and
the bottoms off wine, water, liquor
bottles with interesting design or special
meaning.
More recently Kathleen bought a kiln
to start making fused glass dishes,
jewelry and decorative items. Friends
and customers keep challenging her to
create beyond her current abilities and
although it is difficult for her at times,
she manages to push herself to meet
those challenges and finds inspiration
from each new learning experience.
Best of all, she gets to see the joy on the
faces of her friends and clients when she
delivers them a one of a kind piece of art
tailored to their taste. When the project
is complete she is very grateful for the
people who believe in and challenge her
and, therefore, she continues to grow as
a stained glass artist.
I was one of the friends who challenged
her! Being an avid gardener, I wanted a
special garden stone for my yard. I gave
her a photograph of myself wearing
my bright green gardening hat with a
dragonfly that had landed on it and the
stone is now a beautiful work of art in
my garden. She later surprised us with
a beautiful hummingbird (which we
treasure) after the sudden death of a best
friend. Also, a potato farming friend
asked her to create a window panel of
their purple potato blossoms. But the
biggest challenge, so far, was from a local
teacher who asked her to design, create
and install a large stained glass window
incorporating two Waterford crystal
dishes within the design. Several months
of hard work later, she completed her
