Our Maine Street's Aroostook Issue 32 : Spring 2017 | Page 31
about 75 car aficionados to Aroostook County to
embark on a journey from one end of our beautiful
county to the other, all the while enjoying each
other’s company, tasty food, fun entertainment,
and good county hospitality at each stop along the
route. Participants’ feedback of the first Live United
Aroostook Auto Rally was extremely positive.
From there, the caravan will then travel farther north
on Route 1 to northern Aroostook County to Fort
Kent where the last stop will include some local fare
(we are crossing our fingers for ployes and poutine!).
There will be additional entertainment from various,
local talents.
Participants in this “almost summer” auto rally will
surely be well fed and entertained and hopefully a few
new friends richer, all the while helping to support the
United Way of Aroostook and its mission to provide
needed resources to county health and human service
agencies which support the citizens of Aroostook
County. For more information about the Live United
Aroostook Auto Rally and how to participate, United
Way of Aroostook, or any of the agencies or programs
it supports, please visit www.unitedwayaroostook.org
or call the office at (207) 764-5197.
This year, the second annual Live United Aroostook
Auto Rally hopes to draw over 150 auto enthusiasts
from across the state, and perhaps from all over
the country! This year’s Auto Rally takes place on
Saturday, June 3rd and begins in southern Aroostook
in Houlton at York’s of Houlton’s Auto dealership
with coffee, donuts, and muffins. Participants will
then travel north on Route 1 in parade fashion to
central Aroostook where they will gather at Percy’s
Auto Sales in Presque Isle for an American Style BBQ
of hot dogs, hamburgers, and such. Local citizens
are welcomed to join the fun by checking out all the
unique cars in the rally. After some social time and Auto Rally photo credits: April Chase, Chris Carroll,
entertainment, provided by this year’s Northern Star, and Troy Nichols
the group then continues to Caribou with a stop
for a tasty ice cream social. There will again be some
entertainment for those participating in the traveling
auto show as well as the local residents at this stop.
