good job because of a poor interview. Make sure you
are well prepared and know details about the company
in question. Go to their website. Find ways to match
your skills with their mission. If you are called for an
interview, make sure you practice your answers (try this
with a friend or in front of a mirror) so they are clear and
concise.
Having the right tools to successfully embark
upon your job search can make a huge difference.
If, however, you are about to retire, you may
also be on the brink of an exciting new phase! The
word “retirement” can mean different things to
different people. Some people choose to stop working
and spend time with their friends and family, perhaps
traveling quite a bit to do so. Others find fulfillment
through volunteering and finally having the time they’ve
always wanted to devote to local, or even global causes.
Retirement can be a busy time! It can also be a good
time to take a fresh look at lifestyle changes and new
possibilities.
Many of us as we age might start to feel an urge
to try new things or fulfill goals and dreams that were
put aside when life took us in another direction. Why
not take another look at those dreams now? This may be
the perfect time to give them their due. Whether you’re
considering a second career, learning a new skill or, as the
expression goes, “reinventing yourself,” taking charge of
your own destiny can be exciting and rewarding.
In addition to Work Reimagined, AARP’s Life
Reimagined is designed to help you navigate and adapt
to a new life stage and is designed to address unmet
needs for people seeking inspiration, information
and guidance. Accessed both online and offline, Life
Reimagined may be just the thing to help you discover
those new possibilities!
A major feature of this initiative is an exciting,
interactive website. At www.lifereimagined.org you’ll
have a chance to explore how to capitalize on your existing
talents, and examine the changes you want to make in
your life. The site will connect you to personalized tools
and guidance that can help you gain a new perspective
on what you hope to achieve. You’ll even find short
videos from individuals who reimagined their lives, and
triumphed. There are so many opportunities and while
creating change may feel intimidating, Life Reimagined
can help you get there at your own pace.
Both Work Reimagined and Life Reimagined can
give you the jumpstart to a new job or a great “what’s
next” that is just right for you. Please share your stories
– you may be the inspiration others are looking for to get
started!
