At the bottom of the hill, the road crosses the
Aroostook River Bridge, the Bangor and Aroostook
Railroad tracks and then the Route 1 Bypass. Route
1 Bypass was built in 1966-67 to bypass the steep
North Main Street Hill in downtown Caribou.
Caribou is the most northeastern city in the United
