What is new to Jimmy is the experience of living in a shelter, away
from family and friends. As we spoke about the upcoming Jingle
Jamz performance and his participation, he reflected on his family
holiday tradition of “eating a lot, reminiscing—both my mother
and father have passed—and having friends and family over.”
As he thought about his first Christmas at Our House, though, it
was not with sadness or regret. Instead, he cheerfully remarked,
“this Christmas I’ll be here. It’s too far to go to California where I
was born and raised. But it’s a joy! It’s a joy being a part of this
performance. Kids will be there, so I’m looking forward to seeing
their faces! The family I have here at Our House is making a new
tradition. Thanksgiving was very good, and I’m sure Christmas
will be, too.”

the last three annual performances, first
as a resident & now as an alumnus. He
also joined the Our House Band a few
years ago to record a music video as part
of a fundraiser for tornado victims.
