I spend most days developing
curriculum for the toddler
program & spending time with
the children while implementing
that curriculum, focusing on
helping children reach developmental goals appropriate for
their age group.
My first day. I had literally
inquired about my position only
a few hours before my interview.
I showed up not really knowing
what to expect. I was greeted at
the door by excited preschoolers
bombarding me with welcoming
hugs. I sat in the floor with the
children to read a book & share
some cookies. When I woke up
that morning I thought it was
going to be just another day,
but I could not have known how
much a few hours would change
my life forever.
I have met children who have
been through more in their young
lives than they can understand.
This experience has changed how
I look at life. I can live without a
lot of things that I used to view as
necessities & look for ways to
help others instead of just myself.
When I graduate, I hope to
pursue a career where I can help
people every day.
I had my first job at 14. I worked
12 hours a week at the Arkansas
Game & Fish Commission. I
remember always trying to dress
up like a 1980‟s secretary wearing
a dress suite & heels!
I wanted to be a squirrel like
Arthur on The Sword in the Stone.
