Since her discovery of Our House less than a year
ago, Kim Knollmeyer has jumped into a full-fledged
supporter of all of our programs. She has been an
essential committee member for both fundraising
events this year and has made several trips to our
campus to join in on activities.
Kim knew little of Our House before she was
handed a ticket to attend Tie One On 2010 as a
guest of Ben E. Keith. She loved the aprons painted
by local artists, and at the end of the event Kim was
the proud winner of the Arkansas Hog Wild live
auction package.
After her experience in December, she joined her
husband, board member George Knollmeyer, on the
Dinner on the Grounds event committee. Kim was
impressed by the staffs’ involvement and committed
volunteers’ ambition. Shortly after the meeting, Kim
and her husband attended an Open House. It was
after her tour of the campus that Kim was inspired
to immerse herself in service. She saw that “Our
House is giving a hand up, not a hand out. Giving a
handout just enables the person never to try, but
giving a hand up encourages someone to try and be a
better person.” Thanks to the Knollmeyers, Dinner
on the Grounds was a huge success. Not only did the
couple prove to be incredible planners for the event,
they showed up hours early to help with setup.
