would take place in our new building. Pouring out of the building
was a beautiful rainbow of people: artists who had donated their
works to fill the halls with inspiration and energy; volunteers;
our staff and service members; the architects and contractors;
donors who brought their own children and families; and the
mothers and fathers of over 100 children who would begin their
summer learning and growing in the new center that says to
them daily, “you are valued. You are worth this investment. You
are something special and bright.”
The young daughter of one of our donors turned to her father and
pleaded,” can I go here? They have a classroom for kids my age.”
A homeless mother put her arms around me and with tears in
her eyes said, “I can’t believe you built this for us, Miss Georgia.
For my daughter and granddaughter. No one has ever done
something like this for us before. I couldn’t have even imagined
this when we came to Our House. Thank you.”
