Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy,
Mary Mayo, a student at e-Stem Public Charter
School, decided to use her day off from school to
raise money and awareness for the working
homeless men, women, and children at Our House.

Mary created signs to celebrate the life of King
and to encourage friends and neighbors to donate
what they could to Our House as a tribute to him.
Mary served hot drinks to those who stopped by
her booth. Even when passersby didn’t donate
