Taco is one of only a few companies that have received the prestigious “ E ” award for excellence in manufacturing : once in 1945 from the US Army-Navy and once in 2016 from the US Department of Commerce . They also have received three AHR Expo Innovation Awards and one Product of the Year Award .

One of Taco ’ s core values is to support the communities where they operate . Taco ’ s charitable arm , The White Family Foundation , supports the arts , music , education and healthcare in the state of Rhode Island .
HOW WE STARTED
In 1920 , Elwood White purchased the Thermal Appliance Co . in Elizabeth , NJ and moved operations to Providence , RI . The company expanded under the leadership of White ’ s son , John Hazen White , Sr . John Hazen White , Jr . succeeded his father and , under his guidance , the company and its product offerings have grown dramatically . John ’ s son Ben is actively involved in the business . His other son , John III , was also involved until his sudden and tragic passing in 2022 .
