CaribShare Biogas is the only business in Jamaica focused on producing biogas, a type of biofuel from
organic waste. As a 2012 winner of the International Development Bank’s Ideas Energy Innovation
Contest, Carol is pioneering biogas solutions in the Caribbean. In partnership with Ch4 Biogas, a
leading Canadian biogas design-engineering firm, they are setting up the first biogas plant in Jamaica
designed to generate electricity on a sustained basis. They plan to expand throughout the Caribbean
to capture the huge unutilized supply of organic waste coming from hotels and farms, in an effort to
mitigate climate change and strengthen rural livelihoods.
