The Feast of San Biagio
In Dubrovnik you can participate in the Feast of San Biagio : the city comes alive to celebrate its patron saint with dances , concerts , religious processions and kiosks in the streets where the inhabitants of the surrounding villages ock in traditional dress . Illuminations , banners and ag wavers , parades for an appointment not to be missed . Legend has it that in the 10th century St . Blaise appeared in a priest ' s dream to warn him of enemy ships arriving in Dubrovnik with the intention of attacking . The priest took the warning seriously and alarmed all the members of the local government , they prepared the defense and the city was saved thanks to San Biagio , for which he was adopted as our patron . There are nearly 30 statues of Saint Blaise anking and protecting all the most important public buildings : a true symbolic protection , Dubrovnik celebrates its big day , February 3rd . The citizens of Ragusa have been celebrating the feast of their patron San Biagio for over a thousand years , the day when they open the doors of their city wide . In honor of St . Pumpkin Festival ( Bundevijada )
It is a festival where the heaviest pumpkins are sought after . Pumpkin festival started in 2010 in Tovarnik . Pumpkin festival is usually celebrated the last weekend in September or the rst weekend in October . Those who plant pumkins bring their biggest one and have a competition to see whose it the heaviest . People from all over the region ( even from Serbia ) come to this festival and present and sell home made food and drinks and craftwork they do . Our school also has a stall in the festival . We have a school cooperation and we make different products , like jam , juice , pasta , ketchup and many more .
