In the past year , downtown Danville has continued to offer community-engaging events like First Fridays , Summer Sounds , holiday parades and more .

First Fridays are events that occur on the first Friday of each month in downtown Danville . These events intend to bring people together in the heart of the city to experience the charm , history and culture of Danville all while supporting local businesses and creating lasting memories .
The First Friday events are coordinated by the city of Danville , paid for by sponsors and supported by business owners and citizens . Everyone is invited to attend these events for free or at a low cost . The activities usually start around 5 p . m .
Summer Sounds fills the downtown area with live music each Friday night during the summer , pending weather cooperation , of course , and invites residents out to enjoy the music and each other ’ s company .
This year , the summer-long event featured not just local bands , but also artists from all over the U . S .
New businesses opened along Vermilion and North Streets in the past year as well , bringing new opportunities to consumers and providing different types of services to the area .
Terry Gouard II opened his business , A + Cutz , located at 17 E . North St ., in November 2021 .
He moved locations from East Main Street and said opening in downtown Danville has been fun for him to see the different types of businesses and activities
