school students who enroll in AP classes will take an AP test for that class , and then only 61 percent of those students who take the test will earn a passing score that will be accepted for credit at a university . Meanwhile , 100 percent of the students who pass a dual credit course will receive college credit for that course .
The General Education Core Curriculum ( GECC ) certificate is a recent addition and useful option for transfer-oriented students , especially those pursuing dual credit . Completion of the 37-41 credit hour GECC certificate is easily attained through dual credit and assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an Associate or Bachelor ’ s degree have been satisfied . DACC is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative ( IAI ), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of the completed Illinois General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions .
In May , 2022 , the DACC Board of Trustees approved eight new academic programs : three associate-degree programs , and five certificates that represent stackable credentials in high-demand fields of study .
Along with an Associate of Applied Science in Music Performance and Production , the board approved certificates
On Aug . 9 , rock band 90 ’ s Daughter recorded Danville Area Community College ’ s new jingle , “ Write your Story at DACC .” Written and produced by DACC ’ s Guido Esteves and recorded by the band at High Cross Sound Studio , the DACC song is the first for the college in more than 20 years . This week , the new jingle as well as a video titled , “ The Making of the DACC Jingle ” have appeared throughout various social-media sites and in DACC advertising . Another new degree is the Associate in Applied Science in Robotics . Finally , the Board approved an Associate in Applied Science in Hospitality Management , and certificates in Hotel Management and Restaurant Management .
These programs are in development and await approval at the statewide level before they can be added to the College catalog and offered to students .
One new program that will be offered beginning with the Spring ’ 23 semester is Barber College . Informational meetings were held in July for those who expressed interest and joined the waiting list for this program .
