DACC kicks off semester with new students , high anticipation , varied offerings

Danville Area Community College kicked off the ’ 22- ’ 23 academic year on August 22 . Nothing illustrates hope on a college campus like students and professors in classrooms . DACC ’ s campus is fully opened , classes are meeting in person and in normal numbers – which are still smaller and much more personalized than a big university lecture .
Despite seasonal swings in COVID cases , the College community is learning to live with and prepare for occasional outbreaks . Pandemic protocols are transitioning to endemic processes . Thanks to the wonders of modern medicine , DACC is able to work and function normally .
There will always be students who prefer , or need , online classes . DACC ’ s faculty have honed their online teaching skills throughout the pandemic years . While some students need a set , synchronous schedule to be successful , others are more suited to asynchronous , independent study . The College purchased laptops and other technology for loan to students who need resources to be successful either online or in the classroom .
When high school students were learning online , many sought dual credit courses to beef up their education . Now , families are seeing the benefits of dual credit versus Advanced Placement , or AP . Statistics show that only 35 percent of high
