A contract agreement to close on the St . Elizabeth property was scheduled for August .
A temporary location for a health center will be at an OSF HealthCare property while they are building on the St . Elizabeth property .
“ That ’ s going to take a blighted seven-acre property in old Rabbittown , that we hope will revitalize that area much like the health center in Decatur that Howard Buffet built , that revitalized that area ,” Dudley said . “ We ’ re hoping that it will do the same thing .”
“ I think it will ,” he said , but that even if it doesn ’ t , a seven-acre , overgrown , blighted property will become a beautiful campus .
Dudley said SIHF could have put this facility in Champaign or elsewhere , but they wanted to be in Danville .
“ And we ’ re thankful that the people in Danville worked to get that project together ,” he said , about the Step Up group , and also Vermilion Advantage helping with
the land acquisition .
Dudley said that ’ s another great project for Danville , and making people healthy and productive citizens .
“ We ’ re building a lot of foundation right now and I really think that once we get that foundation built ( and ) we got people working together , that we ’ re going to see that stuff start to really be built on those foundations ,” he said . “ We ’ re doing really well .”
When looking then to the city ’ s west downtown side , Carle at the Riverfront is coming along for an anticipated spring 2023 opening . Christie Clinic will be in the building to the south of Carle ’ s new building . The new medical campus is between Logan Avenue and Lafayette Street , North and Robinson streets .
Dudley said it ’ s “ coopetition ” between Carle and Christie Clinic .
Even though they are competitors , when you look at the larger picture , it ’ s always best if you work together . They each have unique services .
“ Why not make that part of town our medical health campus ,” Dudley asked .
Christie Clinic saw the advantages of moving there , and good for them , he added . “ I think it ’ s wonderful that they looked at the bright side of it and decided to
