SAILING DIVISION
SAILING DIVISION
The Division caters for mixed fleet racing
for yachts of varying performance. Their
comprehensive race sailing calendar
has something for everyone and offers
more than 100 non-spinnaker and
spinnaker races per season.
• Friday Twilight races are conducted
every Friday afternoon throughout the
year. As these are non-spinnaker races,
what better way to end the week
than through sociable competition
in what we call the “Chicken Run”,
where every entrant wins a frozen the
chicken, plus great prizes.
• The Whitworth’s Sunday Series is a
handicap sailing series held from
September to April on the 2nd and
4th Sunday of the month. The event
provides family-friendly yacht racing for
both novice and experienced crews.

• The Offshore Racing calendar caters
for blue water sailors with yachts
holding a current Category 3 or 4
Equipment Audit Form. The Offshore
Series for Cat 3 entrants is usually
10 short offshore races a year and
includes events to Newcastle,
Tuggerah, Long Reef and Sydney
Harbour.
• During daylight saving from October
to April the famous Monday Twilight
Series regularly attracts around
100 starters. The races are “nonspinnaker” and contested by 5
divisions including Multihulls.
• A series of races including the Three
Island Race and the Brooklyn Bash
with Gosford, Hawkesbury River and
Avalon Sailing Clubs helps promote
friendship and rivalry.
• Ladies Skippers’ Race and picnic
provide further opportunities
for friendly competition and
camaraderie.
After every race there is a short
presentation announcing the results and
prizes awarded. These get-togethers also
provide a great opportunity to compare
gear, get some advice and technical
tips on sailing and servicing your boat.
You are welcome to join us for a sail or
register as a crew member.
