Hole 5 - Pump House Par 4 355 metres (men) 334 metres (women) Playing Tips The old pump house used to be located near the tee and hence the name of the hole. Large trees create a classic chute through which the drive must be threaded. Although a wide landing area awaits the drive, the fairway falls away to the left and right, shedding errant shots towards the tree lines. Distance control is critical on the approach shot for any chance of a birdie. Hole 6 - Bunker Hill Par 3 143 metres (men) 122 metres (women) Playing Tips Named in line with its natural characteristics. Uphill par 3 where the base of the flag is not visible from the tee. A two tiered green makes club selection critical. Finish on the correct tier and a birdie is a real possibility – finish on the wrong tier and you’ll have to work hard for your par. Hole 7 - Western Bend Par 4 360 metres (men) 343 metres (women) Playing Tips Hole 7 is a dogleg right par 4 with two fairway bunkers on the inside corner that challenges the long hitters who can gain a significant advantage if successful in carrying them. The safer route to the left of the bunkers can also catch the unwary – if the drive is too far left, large trees block the approach to the green. The heavily contoured green demands precise distance control on the approach shot if a birdie is to be had. Wayward approaches are punished by a precipitous fall-off on the right and the two bunkers that guard the left. The front right quadrant of the green is bowl shaped, collecting shots that fall short of higher pin locations and resulting in steep uphill approach putts. A pin located on the lower level offers welcome relief however – and a good birdie opportunity. The home finance decision is one the of the biggest you will ever make.
