ITALY PROTECTS ITS NATURAL AREAS FROM MASS TOURISM
The Alpine country has implemented new regulations to protect its national parks from the impact of mass tourism , a measure that aims to preserve biodiversity and maintain the environmental integrity of these natural spaces . The new policies include limiting the number of daily visitors and creating reservation systems for access to the busiest parks .
Environment Minister Maria Costa said these measures are crucial to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy Italy ' s natural treasures . ‘ Tourism is an important source of income for our country , but it cannot be at the expense of our environment . We must find a balance that allows visitors to enjoy our landscapes without destroying it ,’ Costa said at a recent press conference .
In addition to the restrictions , awareness campaigns are being carried out to educate tourists about the importance of respecting nature and reducing their ecological footprint . It is hoped that these actions will not only help protect Italy ' s national parks , but also encourage a change in visitor behaviour towards more responsible and sustainable tourism .
