The 47 th Great Gibraltar Beach Clean run by the Nau-
tilus Project took place on Saturday 17th August at
Rosia Bay with the help of 50 amazing volunteers!
This was the first time I’d gone to one of the beach
cleans. I’ve been meaning to go for a while but sha-
mefully always found a last-minute reason not to. I
would either forget it was on, think I was too busy
or my personal favourite after a late-night.... the ge-
nuine belief that my bed was a warm cocoon that I
could never leave. Which let’s be honest, are rubbish
excuses.
My Saturday morning began with a start. I had, of
course, slept through my alarm but was determined
to make it this time. 15 minutes of frantically running
around the flat later and I was out the door.
I met with Vanessa from OTWO at Rosia Bay just
before 10 am. Our initial thought was how great it
was to see so many people there! We hadn’t known
what to expect but seeing people of all ages waiting
to be handed their bucket and gloves was very en-
couraging and a great way to start the morning.
These clean-ups take place every 2-4 weeks, each
time focusing on one of the beaches in Gibraltar. The

¡El Proyecto Nautilus ha dirigido el trabajo de la 47º
Gran Limpieza de una Playa de Gibraltar! Rosia Bay,
con la ayuda de cincuenta increíbles voluntarios,
quedó impecable el 17 de agosto.
Esta ha sido la primera ocasión en la que he asis-
tido a una limpieza de playas. Mi intención de acu-
dir a una de estas acciones ha sido mi voluntad en
varias ocasiones pero, he de admitir con vergüenza,
que en el último minuto siempre encontré una ex-
cusa para no hacerlo. Siempre con excusas basura:
olvidé encender la alarma, estaba demasiado ocupa-
da, una mala noche... la creencia de que mi cama era
lo más confortable y me era imposible abandonarla.
Excusas baratas.
Mi sábado por la mañana comenzó con una pues-
ta en marcha. Me dormí después de sonar mi des-
pertador pero, en esta ocasión estaba decidida a
acudir a la limpieza. Después de quince minutos de
carrera por todo el apartamento, salía por la puerta.
Me reuní con Vanessa de OTWO en Rosia Bay,
justo antes de las diez de la mañana. Nuestra pri-
mera percepción fue la alegría de ver tanta gente
allí reunida. Había personas de todas las edades
