A note from the editor

Last time I promised Number 3 would be exciting no-
vel and attractive. I hope we have delivered on that.
Its certainly been exciting for us and inspiring to see
such great initiatives like those taken in our National
Day Festivities, all recognizing the importance and
urgent need to look after our environment. I think we
can be proud of the great effort made by all to deliver
not only a week of entertainment to remember, but
also demonstrate the total commitment to the envi-
ronment in their organization.
There are always ways to improve, we are cons-
tantly learning new methods and ways to be more
environment friendly. With this commitment though,
we will soon be the example we all want to be. As
long as we individually accept our role, accept that
we may have to be inconvenienced a bit if our planet
is to survive, those with responsibility to act on our
behalf will feel empowered.
This edition carries an interview with Minister for
Transport Paul Balban. It was a candid and honest
interview and I think reflects the difficulty in applying
a balance to the issue of Transport and its impact on

revista emocionante y atractiva. Espero que haya-
mos cumplido con eso.
Ciertamente ha sido emocionante para nosotros
e inspirador ver iniciativas tan grandiosas como las
tomadas en nuestras Fiestas del Día Nacional, to-
das reconociendo la importancia y la urgente nece-
sidad de cuidar nuestro medio ambiente. Creo que
podemos estar orgullosos del gran esfuerzo reali-
zado por todos para ofrecer no solo una semana
de entretenimiento para recordar, sino también de-
mostrar el compromiso total con el medio ambiente
en su organización.
Siempre hay formas de mejorar, constantemen-
te estamos aprendiendo nuevos métodos y formas
de ser más amigables con el medio ambiente. Sin
embargo, con este compromiso, pronto seremos el
ejemplo que todos queremos ser. Mientras acep-
temos individualmente nuestra responsibilidad,
aceptemos que es posible que tengamos que ser
molestados un poco para que nuestro planeta so-
breviva, quienes tengan la responsabilidad de ac-

the Environment. His personal commitment is clear,
not only in what he advocates but in how he lives his
own life. His role is a difficult one as we all know.
The public transport available in Gibraltar is easily
comparable to the best of like sized communities.
For sure there are many things that can be impro-
ved upon, for sure there have been errors, but the
biggest mistake we can make is stare at the massive
problems we are facing and do nothing for fear of
failure. No one can blame Mr Balban of that. There
are meaningful measures being taken within a defi-
ned plan of action; we can now debate how this can
be changed and tuned for best effect, but we have
now a plan and a resolve to do things. At the end of
the day though, as we say time and time again, it is
us that have to leave our cars at home when we can
it´s as simple as that.
Our team is also enhanced with the incorporation
of Demi Perera. Demi has agreed to join our small
dedicated team and is already impressing with her
imagination and keen photographic eye. Together
we will work tirelessly to deliver an interesting and
enjoyable read that will help you find ways to help
us all.
This month we shall launch our campaign for ad-
vertisers and the CSR scheme. We hope to be able
to service all and would ask you to be patient as we
work our way down our lists.
I have to make special mention of our Creative Di-
rector Juanjo Trujillo. He is always inspiring with his
work but on this month’s cover has excelled himself
with the use of new technologies. Cannot wait to
share his illustrations with you next month.

Esta edición lleva una entrevista con el Minis-
tro de Transporte Paul Balban. Fue una entrevista
sincera y honesta y creo que refleja la dificultad
de aplicar un equilibrio al tema del transporte y
su impacto en el medio ambiente. Su compromiso
personal es claro no solo en lo que defiende sino en
cómo vive su propia vida. Su papel es difícil, como
todos sabemos. El transporte público disponible en
Gibraltar es fácilmente comparable a las mejores
comunidades de tamaño similar.
Seguro que hay muchas cosas que pueden
mejorarse, seguro que ha habido errores, pero el
error más grande que podemos cometer es mirar
los problemas masivos que enfrentamos y no ha-
cer nada por miedo al fracaso. Nadie puede culpar
al Sr. Balban de eso. Se están tomando medidas
significativas dentro de un plan de acción definido;
Ahora podemos debatir cómo se puede cambiar y
ajustar para obtener el mejor efecto, pero ahora
tenemos un plan y una resolución para hacer las
cosas. Sin embargo, al final del día, como decimos
una y otra vez, somos nosotros los que tenemos
que dejar nuestros autos en casa cuando podemos,
es tan simple como eso.
Nuestro equipo también se ha mejorado con la
incorporación de Demi Perera. Demi ha aceptado
unirse a nuestro pequeño equipo dedicado y ya
está impresionando con su imaginación y su ojo
fotográfico entusiasta. Juntos trabajaremos incan-
sablemente para ofrecer una lectura interesante y
agradable que lo ayudará a encontrar formas de
ayudarnos a todos.
Este mes lanzaremos nuestra campaña para
anunciantes y el esquema de RSE. Esperamos po-
der atender a todos y le pediremos que sea pacien-
te mientras avanzamos en nuestras listas.
Tengo que hacer una mención especial a nuestro
Director Creativo, Juanjo Trujillo. Siempre es ins-
pirador con su trabajo, pero en la portada de este
mes se ha destacado por el uso de nuevas tecnolo-
gías. No puedo esperar para compartir sus ilustra-
ciones con ustedes a partir del próximo mes.
