Commercial volunteers also made a significant impact on the day , removing five skiploads of old construction material and rubble from Blackstrap Cove ( La Media Luna ). This clean-up is part of a larger restoration project for the area led by the Department of the Environment and Clean up organisers were really pleased to be able to start this off with a number of teams and many willing volunteers !
In Rosia Bay , an impressive team of 50 divers from 4 dive groups removed fishing gear , glass bottles , litter and metals , freeing the area from harmful debris . A critter station was set up to interpret and release any marine life caught up in the waste brought out of the sea . This effort showcases the importance and value in maintaining a healthy Gibraltar coastal ecosystem .
Despite the positive results overall , the ESG noted ongoing issues with illegal dumping by some individuals , including trade workers , and stressed the need for change . They will address these problems in upcoming reports and make recommendations to reduce incidents further . Clearly information , greater enforcement and facilities remain key targets of the campaign .
The ESG expressed gratitude to all participants , team leaders , and supporters , all of which involved extensive planning and coordination . The group also highlighted the involvement of young people , who increasingly are voicing their concerns about these issues , advocating for a cleaner Gibraltar .
Looking forward , the group will continue pushing for environmental improvements and hopes to build on this year ’ s achievements . Plans for a documentary featuring footage from past and present clean ups are on the table along with other potential events to mark this 20-year milestone in Gibraltar .
The ESG reports from the day will include feedback from team leaders and will be submitted to both Government and the Litter Committee on issues of littering , dumping , lack of civic pride and what more should be done about them .
With many team leaders already booking a slot for 2025 , one particular comment really struck a chord with organisers : ‘… not only does it ( the Clean-up ) have a pragmatic and visible effect , it also serves to empower our children so that they can come to believe in themselves as positive change agents .’

Además , Britannia llevó a cabo limpiezas previas y posteriores a cargo de equipos especializados que utilizaron rápeles para limpiar lugares de difícil acceso en el marco de la campaña de limpieza .
Los voluntarios comerciales también tuvieron un impacto significativo en el día , retirando cinco cargas de material de construcción antiguo y escombros de Blackstrap Cove ( La Media Luna ). Abordarán estos problemas en próximos informes y harán recomendaciones para reducir aún más los incidentes . De cara al futuro , el grupo seguirá impulsando mejoras medioambientales y espera seguir avanzando a partir de los logros de este año . Se está preparando un documental con imágenes de limpiezas pasadas y presentes , así como otros posibles actos para conmemorar este hito de 20 años en Gibraltar .
