SEABIN PROJECT
One of our most loyal readers and subscriber , Anabel Sheep , sends us information about an Australian project called Seabin Project . An innovative solution to marine pollution . The project ' s floating litter baskets catch everything from bags and bottles to paper , oils and fuels .
The baskets are placed in the water on a small dock and , with the help of a pump , suck in the water and trap the trash . The water is filtered and returns clean to the ocean . Each of the baskets can collect up to 90,000 plastic bags per year .
The creators of the project , Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski , have a double objective . On the one hand , they want to clean the seas of the garbage that pollutes and harms marine life . On the other hand , they want to raise awareness about marine pollution so that , in the future , both animals and people can enjoy a cleaner and healthier ocean .
