day in the sun . In the market area , local craft-makers sold lovely homemade jewellery and vegan and cruelty-free make-up .
The Department for the Environment also set up a stall with information regarding the incredible work they have done and continue to do around Gibraltar .
Throughout the entire day , various activities to raise money for charity took place . All the proceeds raised from the hundreds of sold ECO Festival reusable cups will go to GBC Open Day , together with proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets to win a beautiful hamper . The hamper was chocked full of fantastic eco-friendly products kindly donated by all the local businesses participating in the festival .
The UCM Road & MTB Club held their very own fundraising event at the festival with an Everesting Cycling Challenge ! Groups of UCM members took turns to cycle from Europa Pool , up the Rock and back again until they completed a distance that equalled the altitude of Mount Everest . They made an incredible 20 trips and completed a total of 8848m ! All the funds raised will also go towards GBC Open Day . Well done to all the UCM cyclists that completed the challenge !
At the end of the festival , Eco Park kindly collected all the waste from the event to ensure it was all sent for recycling . Thank you to all the eventgoers that made sure to use the recycling bins provided ! OTWO is very thankful to everyone that came out to join us for the day . Planning began months ago , with the biggest challenge is making the event as eco-friendly as possible . The whole journey was a huge learning curb and one that we will take with us to future , larger events ( more on that further down ).
With a limited budget and resources and the challenge of turning Europa Pool into a green haven for the day , the scope of what we were able to achieve had some constraints , but in every way we possibly could , we made the best choices to embody the ethos of the day and ensure waste was kept low . From installing recycling bins to providing reusable bles productos y servicios ecológicos ; AMA Services con sus soluciones de energía renovable , Spirit of the Rock trajo su deliciosa ginebra local , producida y embotellada de forma sostenible , Cycle Centre y EBike Gibraltar trajeron una gran gama de bicicletas y bicicletas electricas , Backing the planet , Unpacked y Eco Passion demostraron lo fácil que es utilizar y acceder a los productos ecológicos del día a día y , por último , La Línea Verde proporcionó sabrosos alimentos y aperitivos veganos a todos los que disfrutaban del día al sol . En la zona del mercado , los artesanos locales vendieron preciosas joyas caseras y maquillaje vegano y sin crueldad .
El Departamento de Medio Ambiente también instaló un puesto con información sobre el increíble trabajo que han hecho y siguen haciendo en Gibraltar .
A lo largo de todo el día , se llevaron a cabo diversas actividades para recaudar dinero para la caridad . Toda la recaudación de los cientos de vasos reutilizables del Festival ECO vendidos se destinará al Día de Puertas Abiertas de GBC , junto con la recaudación de la venta de boletos para el sorteo de una hermosa cesta . La cesta estaba repleta de fantásticos productos ecológicos amablemente donados por todos los negocios locales que participaron en el festival .
T l Club de Carretera y MTB de la UCM celebró su propio evento de recaudación de fondos en el festival con un Desafío Ciclista del Everest . Grupos de miembros de la UCM se turnaron para pedalear desde la Piscina Europa , subir a la Roca y volver hasta completar una distancia que igualaba la altitud del Monte Everest . ¡ Hicieron la increíble cifra de 20 viajes y completaron un total de 8848m ! Todos los fondos recaudados se destinarán también a la Jornada de Puertas Abiertas del GBC . ¡ Enhorabuena a todos los ciclistas de la UCM que completaron el reto !
Al final del festival , Eco Park recogió amablemente todos los residuos del evento para asegurarse de que todo se enviara a reciclar . Gracias a todos los asistentes al evento que se aseguraron de utilizar los contenedores de reciclaje proporcionados .
