cups and cutlery, only buying decorations we could reuse and borrowing existing décor that would have otherwise gone to waste, we are proud of what we were able to achieve.
Looking ahead to future events, there are a few things we would do differently. Hopefully, as the concept grows and our resources increase, we will be able to make the Eco Festival Gibraltar’ s leading sustainable event.
Our utmost gratitude goes to our four main sponsors – Eco Park / Metalrok, Isola’ s, EVG and AMA Services, without which the ECO Festival would not have been possible.
We would also like to give special thanks to all the businesses that took part and to the many different departments and organisations that helped us make the event a success. Steven Victory and his team from the GSLA for allowing us to use their facilities and helping us throughout. Alain Gatt from the Department of the Environment for his constant support. Gareth Latin and all from GFA for donating the astroturf that helped us turn Europa Pool into a beautiful green space with the perfect festival vibe. Daniel Massias from Eroski and Daniel Linares from ATM European Gib for donating and lending pallets used at the festival. Gary Evans and everyone from Gib Scaffolding for setting up the bicycle parking. Last but certainly not least, Jonathan Collado and all the professionals at Fresh Entertainment for their support throughout.
OTWO está muy agradecida a todos los que vinieron a acompañarnos en este día. La planificación comenzó hace meses, y el mayor reto es hacer que el evento sea lo más ecológico posible. Toda la jornada fue un enorme aprendizaje que llevaremos con nosotros a futuros eventos de mayor envergadura( más adelante se habla de ello).
Con un presupuesto y unos recursos limitados, y con el reto de convertir la piscina Europa en un paraíso verde durante el día, el alcance de lo que pudimos conseguir tenía algunas limitaciones, pero en todo lo que pudimos, tomamos las mejores decisiones para encarnar el espíritu del día y garantizar que los residuos se mantuvieran bajos. Desde la instalación de contenedores de reciclaje hasta la provisión de vasos y cubiertos reutilizables, pasando por la compra de decoraciones que pudiéramos reutilizar y el préstamo de decoraciones existentes que de otro modo se habrían desperdiciado, estamos orgullosos de lo que pudimos conseguir.
De cara a futuros eventos, hay algunas cosas que haríamos de forma diferente. Esperamos que, a medida que el concepto crezca y nuestros recursos aumenten, podamos convertir el Eco Festival en el principal evento sostenible de Gibraltar.
