U-MEE ANNOUNCE ‘ CLEAN AND GREEN ’ INITIATIVE
Local fibre broadband and TV service provider U-mee has announced their new ‘ Clean and Green ’ initiative , setting a great example in schemes to make businesses environmentally friendly .
U-mee has updated its vehicle fleet to include electric vans , scooters and motorbikes . From now on , u-mee aim to carry out all customer installations , home service visits and deliveries using emission-free vehicles .
The company will track the impact of each journey made and set their performance against 100 % emission-free targets . When unable to complete an
emission-free journey , they will use carbon credits through VSC approved carbon offsetting schemes that plant trees .
This new step already builds on the company ’ s existing environmentally friendly initiatives . These include using a GPON fibre network that delivers Gigabit fibre broadband with a lower environmental impact than alternative technologies , going ‘ paperless ’ and inhouse measures such as installing water filtrations systems to replace bottled water .
U-mee has also considered how customers interact with them . After the pandemic forced them to close the doors of their Eurotowers , they have decided to make the shop closure permanent and have introduced online ordering , combined with home deliveries to limit unnecessary customer journeys .
