Objetivo de la UE : duplicar el
The EU ' s circular economy action plan aims to double the amount of recycled material used in the economy between 2020 and 2030 . In other words , the amount of material used should have a higher percentage of recycled elements .
This reduction in the extraction of virgin raw materials would lead to a reduction in the environmental impacts associated with the extraction of natural resources .
But the data show that there is little interest in achieving this . In 2022 , recycled material accounted for only 11.5 % of the material used in the EU . This percentage has increased by less than one percentage point since 2010 .
At the current rate of progress , the EU is not on track to reach its target of doubling the circular rate of material use by 2030 . More ambitious measures are needed to increase the use of recycled material in the economy .
