Between 2000 and 2022, EU countries have shown differences in how they use water to supply their populations. A key concept is water abstraction, which refers to the amount of water taken from natural sources for use— in this case, for public water supply( households, hospitals, schools....).

By comparing regional population distribution with the volume of water abstracted, we can identify changes in consumption and efficiency. This analysis helps us understand how to balance water demand with the sustainability of the resource.
