GIBRALTAR BUSINESSES CELEBRATE SUSTAINABILITY FOR WORLD ENVI- RONMENT DAY
To mark World Environment Day 2025, OTWO Magazine and the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses( GFSB) hosted their third annual Shop Window Competition, encouraging local businesses to embrace the theme # BeatPlasticPollution. The initiative aimed to inspire eco-conscious creativity while raising awareness about environmental issues through visually impactful window displays.
This year’ s finalists – ISOLAS, The Cellar by Saccone & Speed, and Marble Arc – impressed judges with their originality and commitment to sustainability. After much deliberation, Marble Arc was declared the winner. Their display, designed by Joanna Moreno with support from colleague Ryan Dignam, incorporated reused fishing nets to highlight plastic pollution, earning praise for effectively combining environmental messaging with artistic flair.
The judging panel included Dr. John Cortes( Minister for the Environment), OTWO’ s Creative Director Juan José Trujillo, and Thrive Magazine Editor David Revagliatte. Revagliatte noted the high quality and effort across all entries, calling the competition“ engaging and meaningful.”
Marble Arc received a handcrafted sustainable trophy, a marketing prize bundle, and a feature in both OTWO and Thrive publications. Managing Director Raju Purswani emphasized the store’ s commitment to eco-conscious fashion, highlighting their collaboration with brands like Ecoalf.
OTWO’ s Managing Director, Vanessa Byrne, commended the growing participation, saying the competition is about more than aesthetics it’ s a vehicle for inspiring real change.
The event continues to build momentum within Gibraltar’ s business community, reinforcing the island’ s commitment to sustainability.
