A note from the editor Vanessa Byrne / Managing Director

Happy Summer guys ! The best days of the year are most certainly summer days ; cool breezy mornings , longer nights around BBQs , social gatherings , and good vibes , total win .
With the good weather comes an increase of cyclists on our roads , isn ’ t this the best way we should evolve as a community ? One cannot help but get excited with the notion that more and more people are seeing the bigger picture , a brighter , cleaner , greener Gibraltar .
When anyone chooses to cycle or walk short distances , it helps clear up road space for those who need to drive , emergency services , etc . More people on bikes means less congestion in the morning - surely this is something we all want ?
This year OTWO are very excited to announce our first ECO Festival on Saturday the 24th of September 2022 at Europa Pool . ECO Festival is all about bringing people of all ages together to have a good time and learn more about local eco-initiatives , sustainability projects and awareness campaigns .
The day will start at 10:30am , with local cycling enthusiasts and campaigners riding a cycling route to promote safer cycling on the Rock . If cycling isn ’ t quite your thing , you can head straight to Europa Pool to greet the cyclists as they arrive ... ( or be the first to jump into the pool !)
The ECO Festival will be open all day from 10:30am to 6pm and will include a BBQ lunch including vegetarian and vegan options , live music , bouncy castle , pool access and activities , marquee stalls hosted by local eco organisations and businesses , Plus , much more to be announced .
The UCM Road & MTB Club Gibraltar will also be joining the ECO Festival and will spend the day completing a unique fundraising activity ! The concept of Everesting is simple but not for the faint-hearted ! The idea is for a single rider or group of riders to cycle uphill repeatedly over the course of the day until they complete a total of 8,848m – the height of Mount Everest ! The UCM & MTB Club hope to make this an annual event , and all the funds they raise on 24 th September will go to GBC Open Day !
Tickets will be available soon at the beginning of July at www . buytickets . gi so watch this space .
A must mention this month is our interview with Juan Rodríguez Corrales earlier this year . Juan is the President of the UNESCO Center of the Campo de Gibraltar . UNESCO ( United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization ). It focuses on 17 Sustainable Development Goals that will help ensure the prosperity and well-being of all women and men , while protecting our planet and strengthening the foundations of peace .
The Sustainable Development Goals represent the most ambitious , universal and comprehensive agenda ever seen . Juan focuses on them and explains how they strive to achieve these goals . An incredibly interesting and inspiring interview .
This month we come to the end of the incredible journey Anthony Pitaluga shared with us . The Gibraltar -Bordeaux trip . This detailed 11-chapter voyage filled with captivating imagery and astonishing areas has really given an insight to his experience . One which might I add , has added to my bucket list after reading his excellent articles ! Next month we will share with you an interview with the main man himself . From all at OTWO I would like to extend my gratitude to Anthony for choosing our publication as the platform to share his experience and look forward to many more in the future .
Thank you all once again for your continued support throughout our journey . And before I leave you again , I would like to quote Kellie Elmore in saying … “ Some of the best memories are made in flip-flops .” Enjoy the freedom , sunshine , and good vibes guys .
Peace and Love to all
