A lifetime devoted to speleology, at least since 1974, when Jorge Luis Romo joined the Marbell Speleological Section ' s Climbing Group. His career has been unstoppable since that time, including him in countless activities, major research, and prospecting. He even served as Cadiz ' s Andalusian Federation of Speleology representative and had images published in the prestigious journal Natura. He was also coordinating-among many others- the Project of Explorations and Subterranean Prospecting of the Karst of Utrera. In 1997 he became a member of the Spanish Society of Speleology and Karst Sciences( SEDECK) and since 2005 he is the coordinator and webmaster of the Digital Newspaper Cota Cero( www. cota0. com). He is a regular speaker and lecturer at important conferences and congresses on caving, and has also been awarded in important photographic competitions.
How did you become interested in Speleology?
At the beginning of 1975 I started climbing activities with some schoolmates, in the Club Alpino Dolomítas de Marbella. Those veterans for different reasons emigrated to other localities, and in the end, I ended up alone alone here in La Línea; in one of my mountain outings, I coincided with some members of the Group of Speleology Niphargus, that later had to change name by coincidence with a group of Burgos and that happened to be called Group of Speleology Linense Ixodes; During that outing these companions opened the doors of their club to me and I happened to integrate, with 14 years, in the Group Ixodes. The determination in which I will pass to the Speleology was of a great companion and friend, Carlos Jesús Mateo Estébanez, guilty of " unleashing this passion " this passion for the exploration, the investigation and the communication of the Speleology. What are the objectives of speleology?
The word itself describes them: speleology( from the Greek spelaion meaning cave and logia, treatise) is the practice of exploring and / or studying natural caves, their flora and fauna. Toda una vida dedicada a la espeleología, nada menos que desde un lejano 1974 cuando Jorge Luis Romo accede como miembro al Grupo de Escalada de la Sección Espeleológica Marbellí. A partir de ese momento su trayectoria ha sido imparable, participando activamente en numerosas actividades, con importantes investigaciones y prospecciones. Incluso fue el representante de la Federación Andaluza de Espeleología por Cádiz e incluso publicaron fotografías en la importante revista Natura. Es el coordinador del— entre otros muchos— Proyecto de Exploraciones y Prospecciones Subterráneas del Karst de la Utrera. En 1997 ingresa como socio en la Sociedad Española de Espeleología y Ciencias del Karst( SEDECK) y desde 2005 es el coordinador y webmaster del Periódico Digital Cota Cero( www. cota0. com). Asiduo ponente y conferenciante en importantes jornadas y congresos sobre espeleología, también ha sido premiado en importantes concursos fotográficos.

Aquellos veteranos por diferentes motivos emigraron a otras localidades, y al final me quede solo aquí en La Línea; en una de las salidas de montaña coincidí con algunos miembros del Grupo de Espeleología Niphargus, que posteriormente tuvo que cambiar de nombre por coincidencia con un grupo de Burgos y que paso a llamarse Grupo de Espeleología Linense Ixodes; durante aquella salida estos compañeros me abrieron las puertas de su club y pase a integrarme, con 14 años, en el Grupo Ixodes. El empeño en que pasará a la Espeleología fue de un gran compañero y amigo, Carlos Jesús Mateo Estébanez, culpable de“ inyectarme en vena” esta pasión por la exploración, la investigación y la comunicación de la Espeleología. ¿ Cuáles son los objetivos de la Espeleología?
