Seems a bit of a paradox to see the location that was once a Ford car dealership become Gibral- tar’s first ever eBike shop.  Just another positive sign of how the world is changing! Stuart Hedley has always been a keen cyclist, however in 2017 something changed when he rode his first electric bike on a city tour in Barcelona.  He was so impressed with the ease and speed of these bikes that he decided to change career and bring the- se amazing products to Gibraltar’s marketplace.  His vision was shared by his friend Patrick Lenhard and together they created EBike-Gibraltar.  They will not just be selling bikes, they are also promoting Eco- tourism on the Rock, through Andalucia, Portugal and Morocco. Their current 3hr Gibraltar tours have created enormous awareness within our local communi- ty, demonstrating eBiking as a viable alternative for local transport, opening our eyes to their possibili- ties.  Before there simply hasn’t been an easy alter- native.  With so many hills, Gibraltar is a challenge to mobility but these eBikes can get you anywhere without breaking a sweat.  Local popularity of cy- cling is on the increase. Add to that trend the new Government initiative, Pedal Ready and others on the way, and it is just a matter of time before cycling is the most popular way to travel locally. At the new location at the entrance to Ocean Village, the EBike Experience Store will showcase the full range of eBikes from premium manufactu- rer Riese&Müller, and will be adding the foldable Brompton Electric early in the new year.  There is a Bike4keys initiative where you can swap your car or motorbike keys for an eBike for a week (T&C will apply).  If you find the eBike can change your life 24 OTWO 06 / JANUARY 2020 OTWO 06 / JANUARY 2020 25
