Welcome to the February 2025 edition of OTWO Magazine !
This month marks a major milestone for us — the return of our first printed edition since 2020 . While COVID pushed us online , allowing us to reach a global audience , we ’ re excited to bring back our high-quality , environmentally friendly print edition .
We ’ re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past five years . From events to campaigns , it ’ s been a journey of connections , collaborations , and growth .
This special issue is dedicated to urban mobility . Cities worldwide are prioritizing people over vehicles , creating spaces designed for comfort and sustainability .
In our Dahabitat section , we include a graphic illustrating the most common modes of transportation in European cities , showcasing preferences for walking , cycling , public transport , and private vehicles .
We explore the success of Gibraltar ’ s Bayside Road cycle lane , with data showing a significant rise in cyclist numbers since its 2023 launch . This progress is crucial for shaping Gibraltar ’ s greener future ! We also feature a Gibraltarian ’ s journey with a bamboo bicycle , crafted by Filipino artisan . This article highlights the potential of bamboo bikes in promoting sustainable , eco-friendly transportation
We are thrilled to introduce “ Marchapié ”, a new monthly section by José Antonio Duarte Sastre , an expert in healthy urban planning and active mobility . His insights aim to inspire sustainable urban design and prioritize active movement in cities . And as the saying goes , actions speak louder than words — quite liter- ally in this case ! We ’ re bringing you three interviews with notable figures in the field of mobility .
The first is with Antón Prieto , creator of Metrominuto . Anton discusses how this urban tool is transforming public space and promoting walking , with a focus on how political vision and sustainable mobility can create friendlier , people-centered cities .
The second interview features Xavier Matilla , a Catalan architect recognized as a key figure in the implementation of Barcelona ’ s superblock project . His visionary approach and expertise in urban planning have been instrumental in transforming the city into a global model of sustainable mobility and innovative urban design .
The third interview is with Eduardo Barrero , a gold medalist in road safety education . His innovative approach focuses on safer , more active urban mobility , emphasizing empathy , awareness , and reducing traffic .
To wrap up this segment , Antonio Luna delivers a vibrant report on Andalusia ’ s potential for cycling tourism . He highlights the region ’ s certified cycling routes , promoting bike use through its stunning natural parks .
