How did you make the decision to dedicate yourself to this profession ?
Well , one summer night in my village and in the company of some friends , we saw in the distance a glow caused by the flames of a fire , and we decided to present ourselves as volunteers to the technician and the environmental agent who were in charge of the extinction . When I told them that I knew the area and that I had been selected in two forestry training schools , and that I was also studying the first course of forestry engineering , they sent me through a path and with a communications team to an area where they were working some isolated roadblocks , and there they taught me to work and feel this profession . And if we add to this the education and love for nature that my parents taught me from a very young age , there was no doubt about what I would dedicate myself to . Do you believe that there are sufficient means to deal with these situations ?
Yes , we just need to maintain a dignified and recognized , modern and well-trained device in terms of extinction . In terms of prevention , we hope that finally Europe understands that we are in a territory that is home to the last forest of the continent , Los Alcornocales , followed by the pinsapar of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park . They are obliged to allocate funds for prevention . The Mediterranean arc suffers from a problem of desertification and the lack of interest of Europe is tremendous , especially in our territory , where we must increase employment and wealth in rural areas . What are the key elements to prevent and avoid forest fires ?
In order of importance , the recovery of traditional use and customs , the restoration of traditional landscapes , forest management and the enhancement of the value of wild farms . For which it is necessary to reduce the excessive conservatism of environmental associations and the administration itself , to promote the consumption of products from the forest , whether artisan and natural or industrial , livestock , hunting , timber , cork , ecotourism , etc . In addition , for all this to be accepted and to be more attractive , the essential economic aid is needed .

Pues estando una noche de verano en mi pueblo y en compañía de unos amigos , vimos a lo lejos un resplandor provocado por las llamas de un incendio , y decidimos presentarnos como voluntarios al técnico y al agente de medioambiente que dirigían la extinción . Al comentarles que conocía la zona y de que había sido seleccionado en dos escuelas de capacitación forestal , y que además estaba estudiando el primer curso de ingeniera forestal , me enviaron por una vereda y con un equipo de comunicaciones a una zona donde estaban trabajando algunos retenes incomunicados , y allí me enseñaron a trabajar y sentir esta profesión . Y si esto le añadimos la educación y el amor por la naturaleza que mis padres me enseñaron desde muy pequeño , no había dudas de a lo que me dedicaría . ¿ Cree que se cuenta con medios suficientes para hacer frente a estas situaciones ?
Si , solo necesitamos mantener un dispositivo dignificado y reconocido , moderno y bien formado , en cuanto a la extinción . En materia de prevención esperamos que de una vez por todas Europa entienda que estamos en un territorio que alberga la última selva del continente , Los Alcornocales , seguido del pinsapar del Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema . Y que están obligados a destinar fondos para la prevención . Todo el arco mediterráneo padece un problema de desertificacion y la falta de interés de Europa es tremenda , especialmente en nuestro territorio , donde hay que aumentar el empleo y la riqueza en el ámbito rural . ¿ Qué piezas son las fundamentales para prevenir y evitar los incendios forestales ?
Por orden de importancia la recuperación del uso y costumbres tradicionales , la reponer los paisajes tradicionales , la gestión forestal y la puesta en valor de las fincas agrestes . Para lo cual es necesario bajar el excesivo conservadurismo de la asociaciones ecologistas y de la propia administración , fomentar el consumo de productos procedentes del monte , ya sean artesanos y naturales como industriales , las explotaciones ganaderas , cinégeticas , de madera , de corcho , de ecoturismo , etc .
