Otra de mis funciones es planificar y dirigir el funcionamiento del Servicio Operativo de Extinción de Incendios Forestales( SEIF) a escala provincial, velando por la adecuada formación de sus miembros, de la aplicación de las normas previstas en el Plan de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales y demás aspectos que puedan tener incidencia sobre la adecuada operatividad del dispositivo.
También me corresponde mpulsar en el ámbito provincial, las medidas de prevención social a través de los Ayuntamientos, ADF, Grupos Locales de Pronto Auxilio u organizaciones equivalentes y cuantas otras iniciativas de interés resulten convenientes, velando por su adecuada integración en el Plan IN- FOCA. Para posteriormente coordinar la investigación de las causas a escala provincial, entre la consejería competente en materia de medio ambiente, fiscalía de medio ambiente y cuerpos de seguridad en esta materia. Asumiendo la dirección técnica de extinción del incendio forestal en el PAIF o, en su caso, designar para este cometido en un incendio determinado a un técnico acreditado, integrado en el Plan INFOCA.
Además de supervisar el funcionamiento de todas las instalaciones del dispositivo adscritas al correspondiente centro provincial. ¿ Cómo se compagina el trabajo con la vida social?
Bastante mal porque durante mucho tiempo estás dedicado, en cuerpo y alma a la atención de los incendios y del dispositivo. No se trata de cumplir unas guardias establecidas, son muchísimas las intervenciones fuera de los turnos de guardia, estamos operativos todo el año, aunque suene raro esto; en la época de máximo riesgo por incendios forestales tenemos que estar en total disponibilidad.
Puedo poner innumerables ejemplos de ello, las vacaciones familiares que sacrificamos o los cumpleaños que nos perdemos. Una vez tuve que marcharme del cumpleaños de mi hija cuando ella tenía tan sólo tres años, y hace pocos años, ya con diecinueve años, me dijo « papa no tendrás que irte como cuando tenia tres años ».
