Much has been said about the extent of forest fires in our country. Cadiz is unfortunately far above in the statistics as far as interventions are concerned. A serious environmental problem that is increasingly penetrating deeper into the citizenship. To talk about fires is to talk about José Antonio González Gutiérrez. In this interview, he clarifies the current situation of the fight against fire and explains the protocols for its extinction. With passion and simplicity, he tells us about his personal side, his profession and his family. The fight against fires is part of his commitment, a fixation that extends through prevention campaigns, surveillance, dissemination and talks to unite the threads of the skein that society needs. What has been your best and worst moment in a fire and why?
The greatest satisfaction in a fire is when you see that you have been able to control it and that thanks to the work and intervention of a completely human team it has been possible to avoid great natural catastrophes as well as the destruction of houses and above all the loss of human lives. And it is at this moment when you live intensely and as a group the satisfaction of the work done, a situation that is perhaps the most addictive part of this work. It must be taken into account that during the extinguishing, we give the better of each one of us and the maximum, and if the result is the control of the fire it is easy to understand the degree of satisfaction that we all share. Also, and in this sense, it is important to know that this work is vocational, nobody is here for economic reasons or looking for an administrative career. We are part of a team of people who feel the value of our natural heritage and who put their lives at risk to defend it.
In addition, the worst scenario or situation that can occur in a forest fire is when a colleague loses his life, the discouragement and collapse is total. We have to put aside the pain to continue fighting the fire. What is the role of the director of an operating center?

Mucho se ha dicho respecto al alcance de los incendios forestales en nuestro país. Cádiz desgraciadamente está muy por encima en las estadísticas en cuanto a intervenciones se refiere. Un grave problema ambiental que cada vez está calando más hondo en la ciudadanía. Hablar de incendios es hablar de José Antonio González Gutiérrez. En esta entrevista nos deja clara la situación actual de la lucha contra el fuego y nos explica los protocolos para su extinción. Con pasión y sencillez nos habla de su parte más personal, de su profesión y de su familia. La lucha contra los incendios forma parte de su empeño, fijación que se extiende a través de campañas de prevención, vigilancia, divulgación y charlas para unir los hilos de la madeja que la sociedad necesita. ¿ Cuál ha sido tu mejor y peor momento en un incendio y por qué?
La mayor satisfacción en un incendio es cuando ves que has podido controlarlo y que gracias al trabajo e intervención de todo un equipo Humano se han podido evitar grandes catástrofes tanto naturales como la destrucción de viviendas y sobre todo la pérdida de vidas humanas. Y es en este momento cuando se vive intensamente y en grupo la satisfacción del trabajo realizado, situación que quizás sea la parte más adictiva de este trabajo. Hay que tener en cuenta que durante la extinción damos lo mejor de cada uno y también lo máximo, y si el resultado es el control del incendio es fácil entender el grado de satisfacción que compartimos todos. También y en este sentido hay que saber que este trabajo es totalmente vocacional, aquí nadie está por temas económicos ni buscando una carrera administrativa. Formamos parte de un equipo de gente que siente el valor de nuestro patrimonio natural y que pone en riesgo sus vidas para su defensa.
Y el peor escenario o situación que se puede dar en un incendio forestal es cuando un compañero pierde la vida, el desánimo y el derrumbe es total. Tenemos que dejar a un lado el dolor para seguir luchando contra el fuego. ¿ Qué función tiene el director de un centro operativo?
La más importante es trabajar para conseguir un buen equipo donde reine el compañerismo, la unión, la concordia y la ausencia de envidias. Dejar claro que nuestro único objetivo es el desempeño del
